Being a martial artist means becoming a better person. At Striking 101, we believe the lessons learned inside the dojo should shape how we treat people outside it. Helping others is part of becoming the best version of yourself.
Starting in 2027, Striking 101 will award one student at each participating operating academy a free year of membership. Each year, a new recipient will be recognized for character, dedication and service to others.
WHAT WE RECOGNIZE
- Support for fellow students: welcoming newcomers, encouraging others and helping create a respectful, inclusive academy.
- Respect for instructors and the dojo: listening, showing responsibility, caring for shared spaces and setting a positive example.
- Service to the community: contributing time and effort to help people beyond the academy.
- Character on and off the mats: kindness, integrity, humility and a consistent commitment to becoming a better human being.
MANY WAYS TO GIVE BACK
Service can take many forms. These are examples, not a required checklist:
- Help a food bank or community meal program serve neighbors facing hunger or homelessness.
- Join a neighborhood, park or beach cleanup.
- Help organize school-supply, coat or hygiene-item collections.
- Support older neighbors with suitable everyday tasks or community activities.
- Help younger students learn, build confidence and feel included, with adult guidance.
- Take part in accessible community projects that fit your age, abilities and circumstances.
Giving back does not have to cost money. Everyday acts of kindness matter. Children should participate with a parent, guardian or approved adult, and service should be appropriate to each student's age and abilities.
REPRESENT THE HOUSE OF CHAMPIONS
This scholarship recognizes how students contribute to their academy, support their instructors and fellow students, and serve society. We want our students to represent Striking 101 inside and outside the dojo, through the way they treat other people.
SELECTION DETAILS COMING SOON
The initiative provides one year of membership for one new recipient per participating academy each year. Application or nomination steps, selection dates, participating academies and full coverage details will be announced here before selection begins. Applications are not open yet.
Scholarships are separate from career opportunities. Membership does not guarantee selection or employment.
