BREWSTER FAMILY GUIDE

Martial arts classes after school in Brewster

Striking 101 Brewster offers regular martial arts classes after school. These are scheduled training classes, not a childcare or school-pickup program. Contact the academy about the current timetable and arrangements before planning your family’s afternoon.

Start with your child’s age and interests

Our children’s martial arts program serves ages 4–8, and the kids’ program serves ages 9–12. Ask the team which group suits your child’s age and experience. Striking 101 does not teach karate or taekwondo.

Brewster also teaches wrestling within Submission Grappling for children and adults. If wrestling interests your child, confirm its group and class arrangements separately; the general martial arts age bands do not establish wrestling eligibility.

Plan the time between school and class

Check the actual class start and finish times, the journey from school, and who will bring and collect your child. Ask about arrival arrangements and parent observation. Do not assume that an introductory booking slot represents the full timetable for regular members.

Choose an arrangement that fits your child’s school day and your family’s other commitments. Confirm membership options and attendance expectations directly with the academy.

Give your child a say

Ask what they would like to learn and what questions they have about trying a class. A small first goal might be joining the session, following an instruction or asking for help with a movement. Discuss that goal with the instructor.

After the visit, ask what your child enjoyed and what felt unfamiliar. If the class does not feel like a good fit, talk with the team about the available options.

Follow progress without making promises

An activity after school gives your child a setting to practice skills and take part in a class. Progress is individual. Martial arts does not guarantee better grades, resolve attention difficulties or make a child immune to bullying.

Notice concrete experiences, such as learning a movement or becoming more comfortable asking questions. Our children’s progress guide offers questions parents can use when speaking with their child and the instructor.

Prepare for the first visit

A parent or guardian should arrange the introduction. Confirm the age group, date, time, address, clothing and equipment requirements. Ask what, if anything, is provided rather than buying equipment based on assumptions.
